Feb 25 2022 Board Game Day!

We are missing loads of kids today - soooo - board game day!  Check on all Assignments in Teams - especially Safety Commercial Completion & Uploads!  For all students who are done ALL assignments in Teams. You have time to work with your groups on creating an 'extras list' any additional topping requests etc you would like for your pancakes. I will take in for the end of class and see what I can do. 

Feb 23 2022 Banana Muffin Reflection & Safety Commercial Final Class Time

Students - to complete Banana Muffin Reflection - to go into your 'Recipe Duo Tangs.'  Reflection Sheets to be provided. All questions must be answered in order to receive full marks for your reflection sheet. Make sure you have the full Banana Muffin Recipe in your Recipe Dutotangs pls!  * Last Class time to complete your safety commercials!  If Time - Master Chef Jr. Hard Boiled Egg Episode - left off last day with Mr. McTavish at 16:47 - onwards. Feb 17 2022 Banana Muffin Cooking Lab

LAB COOKING DAY! Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins. Remember:  Lab Group Assignments -  Head Chef Prep Cooks x 2 Dishwasher IMPORTANT!!!!  Only 1 group member to teacher station to pick up your lab group bin - with aprons, cloths, additional product items. NO FINGERS IN THE DRY GOODS BINS!  One member of your group to get your recipe duo tang for reference. * Head Chef. Once your group has prepped your muffin tray PLEASE be very careful putting it in the oven. Make sure it is set flat. Make sure to set your timer for 8 min. Use oven mitts to turn your tray and then set another 8 min. Total cook time 16-18 min. Looking for golden brown edges.  Leave out cutting board for tray out of oven as well as tongs as well as cooling tray. At the end of the lab all group members to assist with final clean up, final sanitization of counters and sweeping of your area.  All used aprons and dishtowels to the front laundry hamper for washing.

Fire Drill! Time to work on Safety Commercial Project!  Review Of Groups:  A - Allergies and Epi Demo B - Knife Safety - moving in the kitchen and cleaning knives. C - Washing Hands D - Kitchen Fires  E - Kitchen Hygiene  F -  Preventing burns and scalds + lifting from oven  Wash Hands - Progression of how to wash hands. ALL basic Hygiene Methodologies re: prepping to work in a kitchen. Knife Safety - How to wash & store knives safely. How to move around the kitchen with a knife safely and pass a knife safely. Please use a sample knife vs. a real knife for your video. E.g. Plastic knife for the moving around and passing sections.  Fires - How to best put out different types of fires in the kitchen. You can utilize paper to depict the 'fire' here. Again, we will NOT be lighting fires as part of this demo. Allergy Awareness & Safety. Reviewing the top 8-10 allergens and how to utilize an epi pen.
